Custom Photography is unique and specialized just for you. It is designed to create perfect, lasting keepsakes of your loved ones.  The sessions are not cookie cutter and are planned specifically for you so that the result is gorgeous images and artwork that you are thrilled to hang on your walls and treasure in keepsake albums.   It is very different from the experience you would get at a chain or mall studio.  Custom Photography is not for everyone and doesn’t fit everyone’s budget. Many people budget for it and plan photography sessions for what we call the big events – the birth and first year of a child (maternity, newborn, 6 month and one year sessions), milestones such as annual photos of your child from age 1-5, photos of your high school senior, and family portraits that you plan to hang somewhere in your home to remember that special time in your life.  Let us share some pricing information to help you decide if custom photography is right for you.

Creative Fee

The Creative fee varies based on your session type.  It includes:

Types of Sessions

Signature Newborn Sessions | $150 (studio)/$250 (in your home)

This includes a 2-4 hour session to capture your newborn in a variety of sweet poses with many of our hand selected, vintage or modern props and our collection of unique backdrops and knitted hats.    These sessions are longer because we move at the pace of your baby and take breaks for cuddling and feeding.  They include images of the newborn and if you desire, images of the family with the newborn. We encourage Mom’s to pose for several images with their new baby.  Trust us, you will be grateful in years to come to have images of you with your sweet newborn.  These sessions are conducted within the first 5-10 days of a newborn’s life in order to achieve many of the cuddly newborn poses.

Signature Baby/Child | $100 (studio)/$150 (on location)

Includes a one hour session with 1-3 outfit changes.

Signature Senior | $175 (on location)/$150 (studio and nearby outdoor location)

The on-location option includes a 1-3 hour session at a location in the Kansas City area.  Popular locations are the Rivermarket, Westport, the West Bottoms, Loose Park, the Plaza.

The studio option includes 1 hour in our studio and another hour in a nearby outdoor area.  You can change outfits as many times as desired during these sessions as long as time permits.

Senior Share-A-Session |  $600 per senior

This is a 2-3 hour on location or mixed studio/nearby location session for you and a best friend.  It includes several product packages.

Simplicity Sessions | $300 or $500 (studio or outdoor location near studio)

These are 20 minute sessions for  one child and include either 5 or 15 digital files delivered electronically to you.  This is not available for newborns.

Pricing Details

Your minimum investment in prints or products is $300, although most clients spend significantly more.  The $300 minimum is collected up-front when you reserve your session and then credited to your final order.

We have found that more and more people want copies of their digital files so they can either print many images themselves or for archival purposes, so we gladly offer digitals in our product line.  Most people purchase a mixture of prints and digital files.  We recommend you print anything you want to hang on your walls through us to ensure the highest quality and we help those who purchase digital files with recommendations of where to print their files.

5×7′s are $45, 8×10′s are $55. We offer the options to purchase items both a la carte and grouped together in collections, which offer significant savings over a la carte pricing.  Our collections range from $399 to $1,999. For those that are interested in prints but really want files to share on Facebook, you are in luck. We gift every client with a watermarked, web sized file of each image they purchase whether it is a digital file or a print. These are suitable for e-mailing or facebook, but not for printing. If you want to print unlimited copies at the lab of your choice, then you will want to purchase digital files, which come with a printing release for your to print them to your heart’s content or use them in scrapbooks, Shutterfly albums, Tiny Prints cards etc.

We do offer mini-sessions several times per year at great savings. They are announced on our blog and via e-mail. If you would like to receive an e-mail notification of those events, please let us know. We also offer mini-sessions for seniors that want something a little more special than their yearbook photos, but want to spend in the $300-500 range.
