I absolutely love this portrait of this wonderful mom and her little boy. What a great memory. I wish I had newborn portraits taken when my kids were born. I would have loved a portrait of myself with any of them, especially since I am always behind the camera.

Meet one of the sweetest, mellow and gorgeous baby girls you’ll ever see (unless of course, you have a baby girl of your own!)  She is such a little doll baby!  And her hair… goodness… what mother wouldn’t go gaga putting bows and clips and headbands on her.

LOVE.   There’s no other word to describe how everyone feels about her!

I think I could just stare at his face all day!  His Mom just came to pick up her goodies and I got teary eyed peeking at him snoozing in his car seat.  Really, they grow so fast!  I know it sounds trite, but newborns have that special newborn look for such a short period of time.

This knitted owl hat has been my most popular hat for newborn boys.

This pose has been very popular with parents.  He looks so peaceful and relaxed.

This navy wrap is new and I love how it looks against the caramel colored  mongolian fur fabric.

This pose of the baby in a basket on the faux wooden floor has also been very popular.  Everyone loves this fake barnwood floor.  It has the same soft surface as a giant mousepad.

Mom had a favorite pair of cowboy boots and wanted this image of her son with her cowboy boots.  We made a lovely canvas of this image.

Again, I could just stare at his sweet face ALL DAY LONG!

Meet Baby J.  Look at his adorable face and his super sweet hair!   He looks so peaceful.  I think he’s dreaming about his great parents and what a lucky boy he is!  This first image is a classic shot that everyone loves.

I love this shot.  I just love how it shows off his body and I love how sweet his hands look on his face.

This is another classic pose that all parents enjoy.

I just adore his face.  I actually really enjoy editing the photos of my newborns.  I find myself smiling at them on my monitor.

This was one of my favorites from his session.  He looks so peaceful all snuggled up in the receiving blanket.

Oh my goodness!  How could anyone not fall crazy in love with this handsome little boy?  He was absolutely a joy, as were his wonderful parents.  He is very blessed because he has such a fabulous family, from his parents to his grandparents!

Look at his sweet, sweet face!

Doesn’t he have the cutest hair!

This was a personal favorite of mine from the session.  I love the backdrop paired with the trunk.

Everyone’s favorite pose.  He was so cooperative that we were able to photograph him in this pose with and without a hat!

I am in LOVE with this image of his Mommy and him.  Can’t you just see how much she loves her little boy?

Sugar and spice and everything nice …. oh goodness, this sweet, precious little girl was so fresh from God and just a joy to hold.  Look at that face!  I could never get anything done if I were her Mama because all I would do all day long is hold her (which is pretty much what I did with my youngest, the only one I was able to be home full time with)  We had so much fun posing her and photographing her with sweet headbands.  She is such a lucky little girl because her parents are so absolutely wonderful.  You just know that she will grow up to be a strong girl, knowing she is loved and filled to the brim with self esteem.     That thought makes me so happy!  I get to see her in October and I can’t wait!  That makes me happy too!

This is the classic newborn shot.  It is usually is everyone’s top three.

This is also one of everyone’s favorite poses!

One day, I decided to make a bunch of tutu’s for my newborn girlies.  I made them in such a way that they go off and on very easily, without disturbing them.  Isn’t she adorable?

Another tutu and headband set.

Everyone also loves this antique wooden bowl I picked up in the West Bottoms in Kansas City.  It’s the perfect newborn prop.

And finally, look at that sweet, sweet face and that petite body.  Goodness, I miss her!

Really!  Look at his hair!  Isn’t it the absolute cutest?  And those sweet, sweet puckery lips!  If I were his Mommy, I think I would hold him non-stop and never take my eyes off his sweet face.  He was such a good baby for his session, and his mother was delightful.  She was very relaxed and easy going, which is probably why he was so content!  Thanks for a wonderful session, little guy!

Many Moms initially balk when I suggest they let me take some portraits with their baby.  ”Ooooh, I look awful, I don’t have my body back, I haven’t had my hair done in a while.”  I hear it all.  But just look at how beautiful a portrait with your baby can be!  I truly wish I had keepsakes like these of my children and me when they were newborns.  It’s one of those once-in-a-lifetime things.  There aren’t any do-overs!  And really, these types of images are keepsakes.  Because they are so classic, I really love them in black and white.

This is a new backdrop.  I really like it!

And this is a new hat!  Isn’t is adorable!

Oh my goodness!  This session was so much fun!  This little newborn was NOT so little.  He was a big baby and a tad older.  But, he was oh so good during the session.  His Mom is the coolest, hippest Mom and if you are at all into the theatre scene in Kansas City, you would recognize her.  She is a supremely talented actress and my family loves watching her perform.  Her daughter is full of talent, and frankly, could light up any stage with her magical personality and energy.  I have to start with a shot of her.  Can you see the merriment in her eyes and the hint of mischief in her little grin?

We were able to get some photos of the two children together!

Is this too fun?

I added a border for some fun.

Look, a smile!

He was so big – and sooo long – look at him all stretched out as if he was already 3 months old!

I love his sweet and handsome face!  I can’t wait to see what he looks like when he is bigger.  I didn’t know his sister when she was a baby, so I wonder how much he’ll look like her.

This little guy is one of my favorite newborns ever.  His parents are so kind and gracious and loving and fun.  He is going to have the best life ever!  I miss him so much that I am going to visit him.  I would find myself lost in his sweet face as I edited his photos.

I am soooo glad that his parents chose to do a portrait with him. These types of photos are keepsakes.

I just love  his sweet face!  He’s so peaceful!

Don’t you just know that he slept like this for 9 months?  He looks so content!

He was so cooperative doing “the pose”.

I loved this shot of him holding his cheeks.

It’s so fun when I can capture a smile.  I’ve learned to watch my newborns for signs that they are dreaming.  I can usually predict an upcoming smile, so I often will patiently wait for them to smile.

Sometimes they surprise me because after all, they are newborns and besides being miracles and bundles of cuteness, newborns are 100% unpredictable.

This is a new backdrop, so I was dying to use it!  I love how it photographs.  It is very versatile and  has pretty waterflowers on either side of this section.

This newborn and his family are wonderful and it was delightful to spend time with them during their session.  We slowed down big brother long enough for some shots with the baby and some family images and then he was off, playing, reading, swinging on the swings in the backyard.     Luckily, this session was before Kansas City hit its streak of sweltering heat or big brother would have never headed outdoors to play.  I think the kids in Kansas City have forgotten what it is like to play outside since the heat makes it unbearable.

I think this newborn and one other recent newborn boy are two of my biggest babies ever!
